Hello again. Sorry your wine and food guy has been so slack but I've got this baby you see... O.K. no excuses. But look at this girl. Two months old today. She was 6 lb. 13 oz. and 19 1/2" at birth and as of this morning she's 22 1/2" and 12 1/2lbs.. And growing fast. Enough of my Sanya Jaye.
Casa di Vino tastings have been going really great lately and some of the most popular wines include: Starmont Sauvignon Blanc with it's mouthful of gooseberry & grapefruit and St. Hallet "Poachers Blend", a blend of Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc & Riesling from Australia that's a tropical fruit bomb that is just perfect for chilling down and chilling out with. This is one Casa di Vino will be running with(and consuming) all summer long. Try it with pineapple chicken or sweet and sour pork.
From our "Cinco de Mayo" tasting Monjardin Un-Oaked Chardonnay from Spain has a rich but crisp character and loads of pear and apple. CDV paired this wine up with an Arroz con Pollo recipe. Check out the Casa di Vino website for this recipe and others. Also very popular from this tasting was an
A by Acacia red blend of Zinfandel & Syrah that your food and wine guy(me) recommended with a Fajitas recipe. This wine would also be great with a slab of ribs.
Our "Super Summer Kickoff" tasting yeilded a bunch of hits but the most popular were: Robertson Chenin Blanc from South Africa which tastes like biting into a juicy nectarine; La Linda Tempranillo which is an Argentinian wine made from Spain's most popular grape; lastly Fat Cat Pinot Noir from California. The Tempranillo has wonderful cocoa and chocolate notes with undertones of blackberry. I've paired this beauty up with a Coffee Crusted Beef Tenderloin recipe. The Fat Cat was just a good pinot for a good price. Wonderful red fruit that won't overwhelm pork or fish, this wine can also be chilled and taken on picnics. Try it with cold chicken wings, I have.
So these are some of the fun wines that have graced our palates here at the Casa. Stop on by and give them a try or join us on June 2nd for our "Summer Values Pt. II" tasting. Good juice is guaranteed to flow. Hope to see you soon.
